The SHONEN UNLEASHED roster blends household-name protagonists with premium earn-only fighters. Organizing them by unlock type clarifies your progression roadmap: starters form the 1000-cash foundation, non-starters demand 2000 cash, token fighters require ranked dedication, and Saitama crowns players who master every starter in ranked.

Starters include Izuku, Tanjiro, Jonathan, Ichigo, Luffy, Naruto, and Goku. New accounts pick one free from a random three. Non-starters such as Byakuya expand strategic options with spacing and counter tools not found in the starter pool. Guts and Yuji sit at 100 tokens each — expensive but aligned with ranked reward loops. Saitama unlocks after five ranked wins per starter, totaling 35 wins minimum across the starter cast.

Each roster member levels separately. Playing ranked on one character does not level another. Plan dedicated sessions for under-leveled fighters you need for Saitama wins or path unlocks at level 10.

Cash Characters — Starters vs Non-Starters

Starters at 1000 cash are the best value per roster slot. They are required for Saitama, strong enough for ranked climbing (especially Tanjiro), and cheaper than every non-starter. Buy missing starters before 2000-cash characters unless a non-starter like Byakuya directly counters your ranked weaknesses.

Non-starters at 2000 cash target players who have completed their starter collection or want specific matchup tools. Byakuya’s sword range and counters address armor-heavy metas where short-range starters struggle. Budget two to three ranked seasons of cash income if you plan to collect every non-starter without AFK farming.

Cash income sources include match rewards, season end payouts (500 cash per rank above bronze), AFK lobby idle (10 cash per 5 minutes), and private server AFK (same rates, 20 with premium). Combine ranked play with passive farming for fastest full roster completion.

Token Characters — Guts & Yuji

Guts and Yuji each cost 100 tokens — roughly twenty ranked wins without kills on losses, fewer if you climb ranks and earn season token bonuses. Guts provides hyper armor and dominant neutral for players who want to trade aggressively. Yuji delivers rushdown tempo and Black Flash burst for fast round closures.

Token economy: five tokens per ranked win, one token per kill on a loss, plus 50 tokens per season for each rank tier above bronze. A gold-ranked player might earn 150+ season tokens alone, nearly enough for one premium fighter before counting match earnings.

Prioritize one token main rather than splitting progress. Unlock Guts for armor meta matchups or Yuji for speed — both are S-tier or A-tier depending on mode. Buy the second token character after establishing a ranked comfort pick at level 10 with path upgrades.

Saitama — The Roster Capstone

Saitama is not bought — he is earned. Five ranked wins on Izuku, Tanjiro, Jonathan, Ichigo, Luffy, Naruto, and Goku unlock him permanently. This design ensures players understand fundamentals across multiple kits before accessing one of the strongest fighters in the game.

Saitama’s simplicity is deceptive. Wide punch hitboxes, strong trade priority, and devastating awakening make him S-tier in Solo and a stabilizer in Trios. The grind is the gate, not the skill floor. Track wins per starter on a checklist to avoid discovering a missing requirement at 34 total wins.

Once unlocked, Saitama levels like any character. Reach level 10 for his character path variation to maximize ranked potential. Continue rotating other roster members for path unlocks and matchup knowledge even after Saitama joins your collection.

Recommended Collection Order

Step one: maximize your free starter and buy Tanjiro if absent. Step two: purchase remaining starters for Saitama progress (6000 cash max). Step three: grind ranked for tokens toward Guts or Yuji. Step four: buy Byakuya or other non-starters with surplus cash. Step five: complete Saitama ranked wins and unlock his path at level 10.

This order minimizes wasted currency — no 2000-cash splurge before Saitama-required starters are owned, no token spend before ranked fundamentals are established. Adjust if a non-starter directly counters your ranked bracket, but treat deviations as intentional investments rather than impulse buys.
